PRODUCT IMFORMATION
Applications of Tungsten Alloy Counterweights
1. Sports & Outdoor Equipment
Core Requirement: Optimize equipment balance through precise weighting, improve handling, and replace traditional lead weights for environmental compliance.
Golf Equipment
Application: Club head and shaft-end counterweights.
Function: Adjusting tungsten alloy counterweight (5–50g) and its position optimizes the club’s center of gravity, improves swing stability (reduces deviation), increases shot distance, and suits different skill levels (e.g., low CG for beginners, adjustable CG for professionals).
Advantage: Smaller volume than lead allows greater weighting within limited club head space; lead-free and eco-friendly, compliant with regulations like EU RoHS.
Diving Equipment
Application: Diver weight belts and BCD (Buoyancy Control Device) weights.
Function: Balance diver’s buoyancy (offset wetsuit and tank buoyancy), ensuring stable descent, hovering, and ascent.
Advantage: Small size (saves space, reduces drag), lead-free and environmentally friendly (prevents ocean pollution if lost), corrosion-resistant in seawater.
2. Automotive & Transportation
Core Requirement: Optimize vehicle dynamic balance, reduce vibration and noise, or meet specific weight functions (e.g., braking, transmission).
Chassis & Suspension Systems
Application: Wheel balance weights, suspension arm counterweights.
Function:
Wheel Balance: Attached to wheel hubs to offset manufacturing errors (material inconsistency, machining tolerance), reducing vibrations at high speed, steering wheel shake, and uneven tire wear, improving driving safety.
Suspension Counterweight: Installed on suspension arms or stabilizers to adjust natural frequency, reducing vibrations transmitted to the vehicle body and improving ride comfort.
Advantage: High density allows “small size, large weight,” impact-resistant, stable across temperature ranges (-40°C to 120°C).
Racing & Specialized Vehicles
Application: Race car weight distribution (Formula 1 chassis, rally car roll cage), heavy truck brake system counterweights.
Function: Precise center-of-gravity adjustment for enhanced handling; tungsten counterweights in truck brakes increase braking force, especially on downhill heavy-load scenarios.
Rail Transit (High-Speed Rail / Metro)
Application: Wheelset balance weights, track damping counterweights.
Function: Offset wheelset imbalance, reduce noise and vibration at high speeds, prolong wheel and track life; track-side tungsten counterweights stabilize track foundation and reduce displacement during train passage.
3. Electronics & Precision Equipment
Core Requirement: Achieve precise weighting in small volumes or suppress vibrations to improve operational stability.
Medical Imaging Equipment
Application: Rotating components in CT and MRI machines.
Function: Tungsten counterweights balance centrifugal force in CT rotating gantries (up to 300 rpm) to prevent vibration affecting imaging accuracy; MRI gradient coil counterweights must be non-magnetic (tungsten is paramagnetic) and compact.
Advantage: Non-magnetic, high density, high machining precision for complex shapes in tight spaces.
Drones & Model Aircraft
Application: UAV body balance blocks (arms, battery compartment), wing/tail weights for model planes.
Function: Balance UAV center of gravity (prevent yaw or instability), optimize flight stability in model aircraft.
Advantage: Small size, adjustable weight (10g–500g), lightweight compared to steel for same mass.
Precision Instruments (Gyroscopes, Balances)
Application: Rotor weights in gyroscopes, calibration weights for analytical balances.
Function: Gyroscope rotor inertia stabilization; high-density, low-magnetic tungsten ensures accurate calibration in analytical balances.
4. Industrial & Engineering Machinery
Core Requirement: Stabilize heavy equipment via counterweights or replace traditional cast iron/lead to reduce volume and improve safety.
Advantage: Compared to cast iron, tungsten reduces volume by over 50%, saving transport space and lowering machine height; uniform density prevents instability; impact-resistant for harsh environments.
Vibration Equipment (Vibrating Screens, Motors)
Application: Eccentric blocks in vibrating motors, counterweight hammers in screens.
Function: Rotating tungsten eccentric blocks generate centrifugal force to drive vibration (material separation, conveyor movement); high density allows greater force with smaller blocks, improving efficiency and fitting compact motors.
